Did you come to the APA workshop?

Posted by ccasc on February 5, 2009

If you didn’t, you missed out on a very helpful learning opportunity.  Nicole Hill, one of the ASC Writing Consultants, presented a workshop that helped to illuminate the sometimes confusing nature of APA style.  For those of you who don’t know, APA formatting is a style like MLA style is.  The majority of your English classes and lots of other departments use MLA style, but the Education Department, as well as some of the sciences, use APA style for their papers.  APA is different from MLA, so if you’re unclear about how to format your paper, cite sources, or use quotations, please come by to see us.  The ASC has material about APA style that should help you out.

We had a good number of people come by for the workshop yesterday, and we will be having more workshops as the semester progresses.  Some areas we might cover include brainstorming, thesis writing, and various grammatical issues.  Students: are there any other areas where you think a workshop would help?  What would you like to see covered in one of our workshops?  Let us know by commenting on this post or by stopping by the ASC.
