Get ready for the Word of the Day!

Today’s word is bogart.

Bogart verb. to take more than a fair share of something; to bully or behave in a hostile, belligerent, or intimidating way.

Have a great weekend!

Workshop Reflection

Posted by ccasc on February 26, 2009

Thanks to everyone who came out to our workshops this past week!  We had people at both our Brainstorming/Thesis and MLA Format Workshops, and a few students even came to both.  The students were really engaged in the workshop material, and the feedback we got from them was really helpful.  We might have learned more than the students did!  If you missed the workshops this week, you are more than welcome to stop by and talk to our Writing Consultants about any questions you have.  The handouts and materials used in the workshops will also be available in the ASC for your use.  We’ll be having more workshops after midterms, so if you find you’re having difficulties with your midterm exams and papers, don’t despair!  We are here to help.

How about a little Lingo?

Posted by ccasc on February 17, 2009

I know you’re thinking, “What’s the deal with all these Words-of-the-Day that I keep getting in my CC inbox from the ASC?”  Well, the Word of the Day is a new program the ASC is bringing to the CC campus to improve literacy and to encourage people to expand their vocabulary.  Plus, we’ve got some incentives for you to learn those words and use them in conversation.  We’ll be having an ASC Lingo after Spring Break.  Think of it as Bingo, only much more fun and literate.  If you know the words and their definitions, you could be up for some prizes!
